Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that Turquoise is an opaque, blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminium, with the chemical formula CuAl 6(PO 4) 4(OH) 8·4H 2O. It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gemstone for millennia due to its hue.
Turquoise gemstone set in 925 Sterling Silver.
Turquoise is one of the December birthstones.
✨ Howlite – A white stone streaked with gray veins ✨ Howlite – A white stone streaked with gray veins, Howlite is a borate mineral composed of calcium, boron, silicon, oxygen, and water (Ca₂B₅SiO₉(OH)₅·H₂O).
Gem silica is desert lightning captured in stone. Gem silica is desert lightning captured in stone.
At its heart it’s SiO₂ — pure silicon and oxygen woven into translucent chalcedony. But then copper slips in — Cu²⁺ — and suddenly the stone ignites in electric blues and lagoon greens.
Silicon builds the crystal.
Oxygen holds the lattice.
Copper paints the sky inside it.
Simple chemistry.
Magnificent color. 💫
Sodalite is the night sky carved into stone. Deep Sodalite is the night sky carved into stone.
Deep royal blue streaked with white like drifting clouds — and under UV light, it can burst into a fiery orange glow, as if it’s hiding a secret sunrise inside.
Calm in daylight.
Electric in the dark. ✨
Sodalite has a beautifully structured and unusual chemistry.
🧪 Chemical Formula
Na₈(Al₆Si₆O₂₄)Cl₂
Let’s break that down:
Na = Sodium
Al = Aluminum
Si = Silicon
O = Oxygen
Cl = Chlorine
Sodalite belongs to the feldspathoid group.
It forms a framework of aluminum and silicon tetrahedra (AlO₄ and SiO₄) linked together in a cage-like structure.
Inside those cages:
Sodium ions sit for balance.
Chloride ions are trapped — which is unusual for silicate minerals.
That trapped chlorine is part of what makes sodalite special.
Jasper in its autumn variety looks like the earth Jasper in its autumn variety looks like the earth decided to paint with fire.
Burnt orange, golden yellow, deep rust and forest brown swirl together like falling leaves caught in sunlight.
The autumn tones (reds, yellows, browns, oranges) come from iron impurities:
Iron oxides (Fe³⁺) → red and rust tones (like hematite)
Hydrated iron oxides → yellow to golden hues (like goethite/limonite)
Even tiny amounts of iron can dramatically change the color.
In Simple Terms:
Autumn Jasper =
Silicon dioxide + iron + time + pressure
Chemically minimal.
Geologically poetic. 🍂🔥🥰

Labradorite doesn’t just shine — it awakens. Tilt Labradorite doesn’t just shine — it awakens.
Tilt it slightly, and a hidden universe flashes to life: electric blues, molten gold, deep forest greens — light trapped inside stone. This breathtaking phenomenon, called labradorescence, is caused by microscopic layers inside the crystal that scatter light like a prism.
It looks like the Northern Lights frozen in rock ✨

I can play with the UV LIGHT on Nepheline Syenite I can play with the UV LIGHT on Nepheline Syenite all day... 🥰
CHATGPT:
If your Nepheline syenite glows orange under UV light, the most likely minerals causing it are:
🥇 Most Common Cause: Sodalite
Very common in nepheline syenite.
Under UV (especially shortwave), it often fluoresces bright orange.
Even small patches can make the whole rock appear to glow.
🥈 Also Possible: Calcite
Frequently fluoresces orange to reddish-orange.
Often appears in thin veins or small white patches inside the rock.
Which one do you say it is?
CALCITE 🤍 OR SODALITE 💙?

Is it a brilliant business move, or an absolute gamble? 🤔
In this video, I’m taking you back to the exact same yard where I previously sourced 14 tons of rock. This time, I committed to something completely different: acquiring approximately 130 unique gemstone spheres from a factory that just closed down.
With an already packed shop, why did I do it? Because every single one of these spheres is a unique geological happening. From incredible banding to rare mineral inclusions, no two are exactly alike.
Watch as I wrap, transport, and try to solve a massive logistical puzzle back at the shop. After a serious amount of shuffling and rearranging, I’ve managed to free up enough space to get about two-thirds of them onto the shelves. Will they sell? Will I make a profit? It’s hard to tell, but the sheer beauty of these pieces made it impossible to walk away.
If you are nearby, you’ll have to come visit the shop in person to see them on the shelves and find out which one is your absolute favorite!
Which sphere caught your eye the most in today's video? Let me know in the comments below! 👇

A futuristic treat in the heart of Guangzhou! Today we are walking down the famous Beijing Road (Beijing Walking Street) on a hunt for authentic Chinese street food, but we stumbled across something completely unexpected—a fully automated robot ice cream kiosk!
For just ¥9.90, this robotic arm handles the entire process, scooping and serving up soft-serve ice cream right on the bustling night market street. Is it just a high-tech novelty, or is the ice cream actually good? Watch to see the full taste test!
Beijing Road is famous for its vibrant evening atmosphere, incredible shopping, and endless rows of traditional local snacks, but seeing this level of automation blended right into the local street food culture shows just how futuristic modern China really is.
Have you ever had food made entirely by a robot? Let me know in the comments below!

In today’s video, we are jumping on the Guangzhou metro from Liwan Plaza and heading straight to the bustling Taikang Fashion Jewelry Mall!
While Taikang Mall is famous for massive floors of alloy-based fashion jewelry and sparkling Cubic Zirconia (CZ), we are on a very specific mission today. We aren't buying the standard fashion pieces—instead, we are heading straight up to the 4th floor to hunt down high-quality, durable stainless steel jewelry and bulk chain for Silver Hills Gems back in South Africa!
Join me for a fast-paced, authentic walkthrough of the vibrant stalls, a sneak peek at the incredible variety on offer, and a look at what it’s really like to navigate one of Guangzhou's premier accessory hubs.

I haven’t been to Singapore in 26 years, and let me tell you—the city has transformed into something out of a sci-fi movie! I had a 12-hour layover to see if it’s still the same city I remember. Spoiler alert: It’s even better, though the tropical heat and humidity are just as intense as ever!
In this vlog, I’m maximizing every minute of my Singapore layover. I started my morning at the iconic Gardens by the Bay, wandering through the Supertree Grove before the midday sun hit. After exploring the city, I headed to Chinatown, where I was lucky enough to catch a traditional Lion Dance performance—a beautiful reminder of the culture that stays strong amidst all the new skyscrapers.
As the sun went down, I headed back to the water to see the Merlion at night and caught the stunning evening light show at the Gardens. If you have a long layover in Singapore, this is how you see the best of the city in one day!

12 Hours in Singapore: Was Leaving Changi Airport a Mistake?
Liwan Plaza in Guangzhou, China completely reset my definition of "huge!" Join me as we walk floor-by-floor through a section of this mind-blowing mega-market.
Welcome back to the channel, stone lovers! In today’s episode, we are diving deep into the heart of Guangzhou’s legendary jewellery district: Liwan Plaza. If you’ve ever wondered what it looks like inside one of the largest gemstone and mineral hubs on Earth, this is it.
We are going floor-by-floor to tackle the sheer scale of this place. We start all the way at the bottom and work our way up through six levels of pure sensory overload. Along the way, we hit museum-grade crystal carvings that weigh hundreds of kilos, endless seas of sterling silver, and heavy-hitting wholesale floors.
The scale here is so unreal that one of the sculptures I found literally costs more than my house back in South Africa!
This is only a small fraction of what Liwan Plaza has to offer, but it is enough to completely blow your mind!
💬 Let’s Chat in the Comments: Which floor would you want to spend a whole day getting lost in? Did that massive Fluorite price tag shock you as much as it shocked me? Drop your thoughts below!

DO NOT Go to China Without Knowing This!
I Got a Street Haircut in China and Lost My 12-Year Beard! 😲I stepped into the bustling early morning wet market in Liwan (Guangzhou, China) looking for a quick trim... and walked out a completely different man.
Sitting down on a rickety metal chair right on the pavement, I became the first customer of the day for a local street barber. What started as a simple haircut quickly turned into a hilarious, surreal, and slightly terrifying adventure when something got hopelessly lost in translation!
In just three seconds of brutal efficiency, my 12-year beard—a decade of my identity—was completely wiped out, leaving me feeling completely naked on the streets of China. But the old master wasn't done yet. Next came the straight razor... for an unexpected ear shave, and yes, he even shaved my EYELIDS!
Between the silent electric scooters gliding past and my hair flying into the morning breeze, this is an authentic local experience I will never forget. Watch until the end to see the shocking before-and-after transformation!
Have you ever dared to get a street haircut while traveling? Let me know in the comments below!

Ear Shaving, I never knew this was a thing?
Jaipur’s Johari Bazaar silver buying challenge. A 2026 silver shopping challenge! Armed with a budget of ₹20,000 Indian Rupees, I set out to see if the Pink City still offers the legendary deals I found back in 2018.
The journey wasn't easy. From struggling to find genuine silver with real gemstones to navigating 'outrageous' price tags in the main tourist stretches, I finally found a shop with better deals. Watch as I hunt for quality, negotiate for 10 unique pieces, and pick up a stunning opal ring for ₹5,000.
But the final weigh-in tells the real story. In 2018, this budget got me 250g of silver—today, I walked away with just 40g. Is Jaipur still the silver capital of the world, or has the rise in silver prices turned it into a tourist trap?
Leave your comments below! What has your recent experience been with jewelry prices in India? Is it still worth the trip?"
The Death of Cheap Silver? (Don't Buy Until You Watch This!)
"I gave my Jaipur tuk-tuk driver total control, and he took me on the ride of a lifetime! We start in the heart of the Pink City at the breathtaking Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) before heading to the Amber Fort for an up-close encounter with majestic elephants.
After a quick stop to see the intricate craftsmanship at a Blue Pottery warehouse, things get wild at the Monkey Temple, where the locals worship—and sometimes rob—the residents! From snake charmers to the bustling 'hub-bub' of Johari Bazaar, the sensory overload is real. We wrap up the day with some incredible food at Ganesh Restaurant and one final, white-knuckle ride through the chaotic traffic of a city home to millions. This is Jaipur like you’ve never seen it!"
This city surprised me!
