Description

Quartz Cluster – Boekenhouthoek, South Africa (53 cm)

This exceptional large quartz cluster, measuring approximately 53 cm, originates from Boekenhouthoek, a locality known for producing substantial quartz formations.

The specimen is composed of densely intergrown quartz crystals forming a rugged, highly textured surface. The crystals range from white to milky translucent, with areas of fine drusy growth and clustered crystal terminations. Subtle cream to yellow staining is present in places, likely caused by iron oxide mineralisation during or after crystal growth.

The cluster displays multiple growth phases, visible in the uneven crystal sizes and layered crystal habits across the surface. The underside shows natural matrix attachment, confirming the piece is intact and uncut. Overall, the specimen has strong visual depth and a commanding presence due to its size and complex crystal structure.
